Instructor: Rita Schwab
November 9 & 10, 2017 / Thursday & Friday – 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Set yourself free from traditional painting styles. Paint loose, paint free, paint from your spirit! Express your emotions with acrylic paints on a canvas like a visual poem. Learn composition, balance, color theory and styles of abstract painting such as layering, texturing, thick paint application versus washes, painting with mediums and finishes. This class is for the beginning abstract painter. No experience is necessary.
We will be working on canvas, so please bring 2 small canvasses and one larger one. Bring your assortment of acrylic paints and paint brushes, your artist paint brushes as well as
your house paint brushes or sponge brushes. And the following items if you have them:
– a palette knife or small trowel
– a natural sponge
– spray water bottle
– Modge Podge (you can buy at Michaels)
– a small paint roller, a foam roller is ok
– bring your recycled containers and a gallon water jug
– rags or a roll of paper towels
If you don’t have materials, you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will bring your supplies for a materials fee.
Wear older clothing and you might want to pack a lunch!
Abstract Painting 2017/2018
Abstract Painting classes are held every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning October 10th from 10:30 to 2:30 in Englewood, FL. We have a lot of fun and share a friendly and supportive environment with a potluck lunch during our classes. We paint Acrylic on canvas or paper, learn about composition, balance, color theory, add texture and learn about various Mixed Media techniques. We work under a covered outdoor studio; sometimes we paint Plein Air in the lovely gardens. Rita teaches you how to overcome ’empty canvas fright’ and gets you feeling comfortable with expression or own creativity.
For location and to sign up please send an e-mail to email@example.com
Classes are limited to 6 students, so please sign up early and reserve your space.
